Are christians Complicit in the Global Financial Crisis
Linked to this article is the second talk given by Dr Craig Blomberg at the Living Faith Conference in January. Here Craig faced up to the difficult question posed to him by the Irish organising team for the conference. Havin g dealt with the issue of God's attitude to Money and wealth (see the article "God, Your Money and You" in the Chapel) he turned to our economic systems and the Christians role in them. Was Jesus a socialist, was he a capitalist. Craig analyses and then comes to interesting conclusions. Dr Blomberg is currently a distingushed professor of New Testament at Denver Seminary, Colerado. He is a renowned scholar, speaker and author with more than 15 published books including Neither Poverty nor Riches - a biblical theology of posessions.
If you were not at the conference and have not heard the talk then have a listen to the MP3 attached. To help you as you listen I also attach the notes that Craig gave out that helps you follow his thought pattern and assists you in any note taking you might consider.
If you have heard the talk the - what do you think - were we, are we complicit? If yes then how do we deal with it - personally, and in our churches and groups we are a part of?
Can you suggest practical actions?
